Man still hospitalized after car chase

Carol Brimm

Captain Willard James said Matthew Eugene Jackson, 20, who crashed into police vehicles last week after attempting to elude officers in a high-speed car chase, remains in the care of Integris Hospital. Jackson, who lost his father to suicide in December, told officers that he had been taking Valium prior to the arrest.

Officers had attempted to initiate a traffic stop after Jackson’s mother reported he threw bricks through the window of her residence when she refused to admit him. Jackson, who had a felony warrant for failure to appear, led officers on a six-mile chase before being stopped at his mother’s residence at 322 S. Mustang Road.

James said several Mustang residents expressed concern over reports that a school resource officer at Mustang Elementary fired three shots at Jackson in the school parking lot. James said the shots were fired at the edge of Mustang Road and the school driveway, not in the actual parking lot itself.

This guy tried to kill a police officer while being high on drugs and now he's trying to gain custody of his minor child. This is sickening.
